Troy Gentry, one half of the popular country duo Montgomery Gentry has died.
The 50-year-old musician was involved in a helicopter crash in Medford, New Jersey today (Sept 8), where the duo was set to perform an evening gig at the Flying W Airport & Resort.
Details of the crash are unknown, although a full investigation will be conducted.
Gentry joined forces with fellow Kentucky native Eddie Montgomery in the ’90s and the two went on to become a wildly successful duo, their partnership yielding more than 20 hits over the course of six studio albums.
Gentry’s publicist wrote: “Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time.”
