I took a quick trip to Florida a few weeks ago and by chance I found myself at a club called The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton.
The headliner was guitarist Josh Smith, who I’d been wanting to see play for years.
It was well worth the wait.
Considered to be one of the Top 20 best blues guitarists on the planet, Smith tore through a set of scorching blues and sweaty, soulful thunder.
He played numbers from his songbook, as well as tracks from his most recent studio album Burn To Grow (2018).
Genial, charismatic and unreasonably skilled, Smith is a fabulous showman and to watch him play guitar is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
