You’ve more than likely heard Houston’s Matt Hammon on the drums before. He’s played with Mineral, The Gloria Record, Verbow, and Bob Mould, to name a few. This fall, he steps out from behind the drums to release his first solo record Silver Suitcase, which arrivers October 20th. Hammon wrote, arranged, performed, recorded, and mixed the entire record himself.
Stereo Embers premieres a prime cut off the album, the hard-driving, alt-rock-inspired number “Pictures.” Through the strong sweep of fiery guitar burn, cymbals shimmer, and an emphatic beat, Hammon reflects and emotes, reminiscing about the past and how, “The stories of my life / are told in pictures.”
If you’re in the Houston area, you’ll have the chance to see a rare full band performance at Cactus Records on Saturday, October 28th.
