I caught Rayland Baxter the other night at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York and it was quite a show.
Performing songs from his upcoming album Imaginary Man (August 14), Baxter’s set demonstrated why he might very well be one of the most exciting singer/songwriters in American music.
His songs have the poetic finesse of a young Paul Simon and the melodic edge of David Gray. Baxter’s voice is a deft and wondrous thing, gliding through each of his compositions with ease, beauty and wisdom.
Imaginary Man is not only one of the best albums of the year, it announces Baxter as one of the most engaging and vital voices out there.
Enjoy the pictures, buy the album as soon as you can.
