Former Operation Ivy frontman Jesse Michaels has designed a skateboard for Earth Skateboards.
Michaels, who sang for the legendary Operation Ivy (and later Common Rider and Classics of Love), is an accomplished visual artist whose work has been used by the likes of Green Day, Neurosis and Filth.
He’s also the man behind Operation Ivy’s various iconography, including the band’s ubiquitous ska man logo, which features a pouncing shadowed figure in a pork-pie hat.
The board he designed for Earth is a limited edition item, with only 100 boards made.
Founded by Authority Zero singer Jason DeVore, Clay Lake and Ashley Tatum, EARTH Skateboards is a company devoted to supporting both the skate and artistic community.
According to their site, Earth “originally started the company in hopes to find a way to create something they grew up passionate about while being able to give back to organizations and artists in the process.”
They go on to say: “Limited edition boards are made for each artist/band and charity with proceeds going to the charities and artists choice charities with minimal cost going back into the reproduction of the next project at hand.”
