A native of Rhode Island, Vix’s presence in alternative music goes back to the mid ’80s, and since then she’s worked with a handful of musicians like Reeves Gabrels of Tin Machine and Andy Anderson of The Cure.
Her trademark chanteuse style is a little dark, a little bitter, emotional and engaging. Her dexterous vocal approach highlights the five tracks on Unlocked. A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Vix invited a few good friends into the studio to work with–John Ashton (The Psychedelic Furs) and Danny Chavis (The Veldt) among others put their entry in the record.
Falling somewhere between Gitane Demone or Siouxsie Sioux, Vix is an alluring presence and “Complicated Man” is the perfect first single. It’s a mid tempo, almost hypnotic tune in its groove, the dry guitar and melodic bassline the perfect compliment to Vix’s delivery.
Vix played all instruments here with a little help from R. Leonardo behind the drum kit and as she says, “I wanted to explore different sounds, and it felt good to do so.”
