Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Taken To The Hospital After Collapsing Backstage

Written by:

Joe Perry collapsed backstage after a Saturday night show at Madison Square Garden.

The 68-year-old Aerosmith guitarist who had just played “Walk This Way” with Billy Joel, collapsed backstage immediately after the performance.

Perry was tended to by paramedics for what some sources say was close to 40 minutes. Eventually, a tracheal tube was reportedly put down Perry’s throat in order to clear a path for air and he was then wheeled out on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.

Joel, who was finishing his set, was not aware that Perry had been in any sort of distress.

A fan told SEM she was also unaware of Perry feeling ill. “He sounded great and he looked fine,” she said. “I don’t think anyone suspected anything was wrong.”

Perry, who’s set to begin a solo tour at the end of the month to promote his new album Sweetzerland Manifesto, had a similar collapse back in 2016 at a Hollywood Vampires show. Although many feared the cause was a heart attack, Perry had simply collapsed due to exhaustion and dehydration.

As of now, Perry remains hospitalized and his current condition is unknown.
