Jason Mackenroth of The Rollins Band Dead At 46

Stereo Embers has learned that drummer Jason Mackenroth, who provided the muscular backbeat for the Rollins Band has died.

He was 46.

The Sacramento native was the co-founder of the Los Angeles-based power pop trio Mother Superior, who had two of their albums produced by Rollins himself.

Mackenroth played drums with Rollins from 1998-2004, a time period that yielded seven albums and four world tours.

After leaving the Rollins Band, Mackenroth went on to form his own outfit called Mack.

Over the course of his career he recorded and toured with everyone from George Clinton to Daniel Lanois to Wayne Kramer of the MC5.

Additionally, he was with the Blue Man Group in Las Vegas for almost a decade and continued to play with them through his four-year battle with prostate cancer.

Mackenroth is survived by his wife and two sons, along with his mother and father and three siblings.
