Lush To Play Coachella

Written by:

We here at Stereo Embers were really pleased this morning when we learned that Lush will be playing Coachella.

Formed in 1987, the London outfit were one of the first bands to be labeled as shoegaze and their introspective lyrics juxtaposed with layers of feedback-drenched instrumentation brought to mind everyone from the Jesus and Mary Chain to Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Their landmark 1992 album Spooky remains a modern classic. Awash in fury and sadness, it sounds like a series of open letters from an anguished heart.

Lush’s singer Emma Anderson wrote this morning on Facebook: “Really chuffed to announce Lush are going to be playing at this year’s Coachella Festival in Southern California this Spring. The dates we are playing are the 16th and 23rd April – the same dates as Guns N’ Roses and Ice Cube (though I doubt we’ll be writing on Ice Cube’s dressing room mirror as we did back in 1992)….”
